Will Hunt - The Turning Point...

Will Hunt is wholly self-taught and specializes in work containing multiple wood species laminated to form one-design "segmented" pieces. "Segmented" work is unique within the general scope of woodturning.  Most turners use solid wood blocks going straight to the lathe with piece design evolving as the work progresses.  For segmented turnings, easily 75% of the total time to complete the work is taken up before the final assembly sees the lathe.  Design must consider the interplay of the color, texture, and grain patterns of the different woods, the impact of the piece's overall profile and size, and the organization of the segments to form a simple but dynamic structure that enhances the final product.  Cutting and assembly must be precise as there is little latitude for change during final turning....
